This extra-ordinary 526m2 restored Medina palace is adjacent to the royal palace of the former king, Hassan II, in the Kasbah and overlooks its extensive gardens with unrivalled panoramic views.

This palace once belonged to the nefarious Pacha Glaoui, the tribal warlord of Southern Morocco, who was immortalized in the biography Lord of the Atlas by Gavin Maxwell.

The palace dates from the 1600’s and limestone carvings dating from 1604 were found during the restoration among the foundations.

Although not all of the current palace is that old, parts of it are, such as the magnificent succession of gated front entrances and the fortified beldi front wall.

Its grand living space is littered with a fusion of unique antique detailing and modern design – featuring an impressive array of five suites, and communal rooms such as a gourmet kitchen, private hammam and a cinema room.

Uniquely the riad has direct car access and parking, a police post for the royal palace right next to its back entrance, and the most imposing entrance and front façade of any private residence in Marrakech.

The owners are keen to sell and the price tag of 1m Euros is negotiable. Any reasonable offers would be considered.

Architectural plans are available on request. These show the unique layout of the property and its multi-layered terracing.
