Chic Marrakech was founded by Grant Rawlings BSc Hons.

Grant graduated from Oxford Polytechnic in 1996 with a 2.1 BSc Hons in Real Estate Management then trained in the West End in property development until qualifying as a surveyor. Since that time he took to working in a more creative role in the property industry in a design and build practice for commercial office space, before leaving London to settle with his Moroccan wife in Marrakech and renovating riads with an established team of local craftsmen and builders.

Grant has had a long love affair with Morocco and is now pleased to be able to call Marrakech his adopted home. He has written a novel based on his colourful experiences there and considers himself fortunate enough to contribute, in a small way, to the urban landscape of the city by lovingly restoring riads in the Medina.

Grant is partnered by Abdellatif Lamselli, the head of construction. Abdellatif has established an enviable reputation over the last thirty years in Marrakech and is responsible for transforming some 650 riads, including Villa Oasis for Yves Saint Laurent and Palais de la Zahia for the Getty’s, as well as notable establishments such as Kechmara, Ministero Del Gusto and the Kozybar. His work monopolizes the Marrakech design books and he has even featured in publications as diverse as a water colour’s book on the Medina entitled Marrakech by Jean-Loup Eve.
