Well – this is certainly an interesting riad for Chic Marrakech to sell. I know it very well indeed.
It was an ancient Medina property that I fell in love with myself – about a decade ago, and decided to buy.
It was a fascinating historic house – in a brilliant prime location on Moassine – that I bought and in fact proudly owned for several years.
The house is actually two properties combined – a 150m2 riad – and a special kind of first floor apartment – a 30m2 Saba – that extended over an outside alley.
I sold this house back in 2009 to a French tax consultant who in turn sold it to the current owner – a well travelled architect – who converted it into commercial museum and exhibition space.
The house is situated in the coolest and most popular residential derb in Marrakech – right next to the Dar Bacha and Moassine intersection – with many of the hip medina boutiques and eateries nearby.
The house itself is unusual – in so far as it is now offers very flexible space.
Its current owner predominantly used it as a small quirky museum for indigenous Berber tribes and their jewellery, but in fact the house was redesigned by him to offer real flexibility.
At present it has the potential to be a full on restaurant / bar – as it has all the facilities and kitchen in place – or a gallery, or for instance it could be easily turned into a medina hotel with potentially five or six rooms – as there are preinstallations installed – or it simply could be made into a unique private home.
At present the riad boasts on the ground floor a large entrance hall and reception, two lavatories, a covered patio with a retractable roof, an equipped kitchen with its own service access, three rooms, an office and a guardian room with a private bathroom. On the first floor are three additional rooms and a vast open gallery. Then on the cool open terrace is a storeroom, a bar area, a lift and an open dining room.
The asking price is 290,000 €.
