This is the most wonderful ancient 400m2 riad and I am so pleased that Chic Marrakech have been instructed as exclusive medina property agents to market it.
As can be seen from the photographs – it is a grand house – with wonderful proportions and an imposing main courtyard – colonnaded on two floors.
The property was originally once a part of a royal palace and belonged to a notable judge.
The property still retains its connection to the royal palace and is accessed through a succession of fabulous gateways – which are rather impressive.
One of the most noteworthy points of the property are the terrace views – which overlook the massive gardens of the adjoining Royal palace. They are truly special and there are also nesting storks nearby settled in the ancient palace walls.
The riad was restored ten years ago or so – in elegant and bold detailing – such as with the marbled patio floor and the zellij bedroom tiling.
It was originally designed as a ten bedroom Marrakech Maison d’hotes, but was never used and has been closed since it was restored.
At present the riad boasts on the ground floor an entrance hall, a guest loo, a kitchen, a patio with a decorative marble fountain, a rear patio with a pool and banquette seating, a summer salon, a salon, three bedrooms with a mezzanine, a bedroom and a rear entrance. On the first floor are six bedrooms. Then on the roof terrace there is a summer kitchen and a laundry room.
Further details are available upon request from Chic Marrakech.
The price is 1m €.
