This Marrakech riad is special. Very, very special.

In fact it is utterly unique and a true design masterpiece.

I can honestly say that in Marrakech there is no other riad quite like it.

It is such a beautiful and authentic house – with the most romantic story attached to it.

The property currently functions as a highly successful five bedroom boutique medina hotel, and also as a very successful function venue – offering entertainment space for up to one hundred guests.

This 300 year old medina property was bought in 2007 by its current owner then redesigned in a brilliant architectural collaboration – that conceived this masterpiece – with every design detail painstakingly poured over and thought out.

The end result can be seen in part from the photographs.

It is a dazzlingly fresh interpretation of riad architectural design – with five beautifully individualized suites.

One of the most striking and noteworthy aspects is undoubtedly the beaten calligraphy in silver plates that adorn all of the doors.

Intriguingly, this calligraphy is the transcript of an ancient love letter found in a wooden casket discovered in a hidden room – from a girl who once lived in the house on the eve of her wedding night – and it recounts the story of her romance with her bride to be in the home that she was set to leave.

One of the most renowned calligraphers in Morocco, delicately hammered the story onto the vast doors in chronological order through the house, like pages in a book – so one can be truly enwrapped in the love story.

Then on show – like some fantastic museum piece in a glazed niche – is the original letter and casket. This can be seen in the last photograph.

Every single piece of furniture, every lamp, all the decorations, and even the tableware were all designed by the star architectural team, and finished individually by Moroccan artisans.

As a result the house as a whole seems a spectacular piece of art in itself.

At present the riad boasts on the ground floor a nice entrance hall, a colonnaded courtyard with a full sized pool – dining and chill out seating, a proper office, a fully equipped kitchen, a salon and two suites. On the first floor is a guardian room on a mezzanine, a set of three loos and a communal washroom, a massive open lounge with luxuriant daybeds on the open balcony and three suites. Then on the roof terrace is a utility room and a washing area, a bar, covered dining under a pergola and the famous elevated chill out lounge.

There is immediate car parking and access.

The property and its business is being sold as an ongoing concern.
